British Columbia new Canadian Immigration entrepreneur program

British Columbia New Canadian Immigration Entrepreneur Program

The British Columbia new Canadian Immigration entrepreneur program has just been rolled out by the province. The program targets business immigrants and you can register online if you are interested in applying. It works like this: if you are selected, you’ll get a Canadian work permit. If your business fulfills the requirements of this Canadian immigration stream, then you and your family can apply for Canadian permanent residence status (through the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program–acronym BC PNP).

So it’s a win-win for British Columbia, who gets to attract experienced business people able to invest in the British Columbian economy, and for immigrants, who can relocate their business and their families to Canada in one set of applications.

Only 200 candidates are accepted into this exciting program per month. The BC PNP actually invites the highest scoring registrants to submit applications for the British Columbia new Canadian Immigration entrepreneur program.

Some of the advantages are pretty cool. No minimum language skills requirements, no age restrictions, you only need to own 33% of the business, and the thresholds for minimum net worth are fairly low for investor standards. It’s $600,000 for net worth and $200,000 for investment. And, finally, there is a really inexpensive registration fee of only $300.

If you’re not selected within 6 months of applying to this program, it means you weren’t selected, but you can still apply again; you’re not out of the running once you’ve not been selected. If you are invited by BC to apply for this program, you’ve got 4 months to get your application together, and then another 20 months to implement your business proposal in BC. (You’ll have to sign a performance agreement etc).

If during your 20-month implementation period (when you’ll be in Canada on a temporary work permit), then the BC PNP nominates you for Canadian permanent resident status. Yes, your family gets to apply at the same time.
